John 10:24-30 ASV
(24) The Jews therefore came round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou hold us in suspense? If thou art the Christ, tell us plainly.
(25) Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believe not: the works that I do in my Father's name, these bear witness of me.
(26) But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep.
(27) My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
(28) and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, and no one shall snatch them out of my hand.
(29) My Father, who hath given them unto me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand.
(30) I and the Father are one.
To understand the scope of our movement, it is important to understand the foundation that Jesus Christ has laid declaring that He did not come to call the Jewish Scriptures (or the Law and the Prophets) an obsolete old testament that He intends to make easier or abolish. Rather, Jesus said in His declaration that He came to fulfill the Law and the Prophets. Now, we just have to understand what it means to fulfill. Look up the meaning of the English verb in a dictionary. Fulfill indicates that Jesus has come to make a reality what was done as a shadow of what will take place. Once what was to be fulfilled was fulfilled by Jesus, then it is no longer necessary to carry out what Jesus had ended. The Law refers to the word Torah in Hebrew. The Prophets were sent to warn the Israelites whenever they did not do what the Torah legislated.
To make us understand His upholding of the Torah, Jesus says that as long as the heavens and the earth still exist, the Law and the Prophet serves as full fledged reference in matters of our Faith.
Another thing worth poiting out is that when Jesus made His declaration the New Testament was not even conceived.
Therefore, because Jews and Christians ignore the Old Testament (The Law and the Prophets, or the Scriptures) one way or the other, we pledge with the guidance and the help of the Holy Spirit to obey to whatever was not fulfilled in the Law and the Prophets, under the guidance of the New Testament.
Hence, we need to network together under the tutelle of the Law and the Prophets, and of the New Testament.
2 Thessalonians 2:1-12 CLV
(1) Now we are asking you, brethren, for the sake of the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ and our assembling to Him,
(2) that you be not quickly shaken from your mind, nor yet be alarmed, either through spirit, or through word, or through an epistle as through us, as that the day of the Lord is present."
(3) No one should be deluding you by any method, for, should not the apostasy be coming first and the man of lawlessness be unveiled, the son of destruction,
(4) who is opposing and lifting himself up over everyone termed a god or an object of veneration, so that he is seated in the temple of God, demonstrating that he himself is God?
(5) Do you not remember that, still being with you, I told you these things?
(6) And now you are aware what is detaining, for him to be unveiled in his own era."
(7) For the secret of lawlessness is already operating. Only when the present detainer may be coming to be out of the midst,
(8) then will be unveiled the lawless one (whom the Lord Jesus will despatch with the spirit of His mouth and will discard by the advent of His presence),
(9) whose presence is in accord with the operation of Satan, with all power and signs and false miracles"
(10) and with every seduction of injustice among those who are perishing, because they do not receive the love of the truth for their salvation."
(11) And therefore God will be sending them an operation of deception, for them to believe the falsehood,
(12) that all may be judged who do not believe the truth, but delight in injustice."
